DVD FAQs

How long will it take to get my DVDs?

The typical processing time is 5 - 10 business days, depending on the size of your order and our current workload. We will do "rush" orders for an additional charge of $25.00.

How do I get my tapes ready/organized?

For some videos, this is an easy question...for example, if you have a wedding tape, we can just put it onto its own DVD.

But if you want to have all of your family's camcorder/video tapes put into a series of DVDs, then we make the following suggestions:

  1. Put your tapes in date order, if possible. Place a sticker on each tape or use a marker to write a number on each tape to indicate the correct order.
  2. If you do not know the date order and you don't have the time to review your tapes or don't have a working camera to review your tapes, we can simply transfer your tapes in random order or if an order is evident at the lab, the technician will use their best judgement.

How good will my new DVD look?

Your new DVD will be virtually identical to the source tape that you gave to us.

How many tapes can I put onto one DVD?

We can combine as many videotapes as you like, as long as their total length is no longer than 120 minutes (2 hours ). There is an extra $5.00 charge per additional tape for multiple source tapes.

Can I watch the DVD on my PC or Mac computer as well as on my TV?

Absolutely. Use any of the standard DVD playback programs for Windows or Mac and enjoy it on your computer or on your TV.  Not all stand-alone DVD players used to watch DVD's on your TV are compatible with burned DVD's.  Anyone who burns a DVD must burn that DVD in either the +R or -R format.  These formats are compatible with about 97% of all stand-alone DVD players manufactured in the last three years.  Some DVD players may only be compatible with one format or the other.  At Video Duplicators, we burn all of our DVD's in the -R format

Does playing my DVD wear it out?

Unlike videotape, playing a DVD does NOT wear it down (there is no physical contact with a DVD when it is played). Every time you watch it, it will look just as good as the first time.  This isn’t to say that a DVD cannot be damaged in other ways so it never hurts to have a backup DVD copy.

We also offer professional archival 24 Karat Gold 100 year DVD-R for an additional charge of $10.00.
