Titles

Other things to add spice to the video's life include titles, captions and scrolls. A title page at the beginning of the video acts as an introduction to the production, and can help set a certain mood. Other title pages can be inserted throughout the video to separate different occasions or to introduce chapters of the unfolding story. A closing page at the video's end can leave the viewer with a final thought or a sense of closure.

Captions

While a picture is worth a thousand words, sometimes a few extra words helps to tell the tale. Captions are a great way to give the viewers extra information, like a name, date, place or occasion. Some pictures just beg for a funny caption! One to two lines is all an effective caption needs. For example, "Hi Mom! You look great!"

Scrolls

If there is too much information for a title page, a scroll can be inserted. Rolling credits, a poem or a paragraph are all good candidates for a scroll. Then again, several title pages one after another can also be used.

Borders

Photos and slides come in different sizes yet video ratio is set to only one standard which is 4 by 3. In order to keep the proportions of all the photos and slides the same, a computer generated border is created. Doing so accommodates both vertical and horizontal photos, keeping your memories looking great. Some pictures must be cropped in order to make them more appealing on the screen. However, if the picture's sides are of some significance, then the borders are placed at the left and right sides of the picture or the top and bottom, ensuring that both eye appeal and the integrity of the picture are maintained.

Effects

One of the great things about transferring still photos and slides to video is that special effects can be added to really make the memories come alive. Music

Another aspect to consider is the use of music. Nothing can enhance a video's mood more than well-chosen music. From upbeat to romantic, music can enhance an audience's feelings instantaneously.
